I realize some of you may already own a copy of Vermont Rail System: A Railroad Renaissance by Robert C. Jones (hardcover edition). Still, I wanted to take a moment to share this recent discovery with our newer members. I can honestly say this book is outstanding, and it has earned a permanent place in my personal library. It now sits alongside my treasured references by Derek Booth, Omer Lavalée, and other works by Jim Jones that I wouldn’t want to be without.
I’ve just finished reading my copy. With 425 photos across 296 pages, it’s a substantial railroad book—something we don’t see very often anymore. Like any well-done railroad history, it thoroughly covers the background of all the lines that make up today’s Vermont Rail System. Although it was published in 2006 and doesn’t include more recent developments (25 years now missing), what impressed me most was the large number of color photographs of the WACR/ POMPY NORTH / NEWPORT SUB +. There’s more than one chapter dedicated to the line we currently follow on this Facebook page.
I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did—and as much as I will each time I return to it for reference while working on my little HO-scale Newport Sub layout (1995–2002).

Je sais que certains d’entre vous possèdent peut-être déjà un exemplaire de *Vermont Rail System: A Railroad Renaissance* de Robert C. Jones (édition reliée). Je souhaitais néanmoins partager cette découverte récente avec nos nouveaux membres. Je peux affirmer sans hésiter que ce livre est exceptionnel et qu’il a désormais une place de choix dans ma bibliothèque personnelle. Il côtoie mes précieux ouvrages de référence de Derek Booth, Omer Lavalée et d’autres livres de Jim Jones dont je ne saurais me passer.
Je viens de terminer ma lecture. Avec 425 photos réparties sur 296 pages, c’est tout un ouvrage de référence pour les chemin de fer – un type de livre que l’on ne trouve plus très souvent. Comme tout bon livre de référence du chemin de fer, il retrace en détail l’histoire de toutes les lignes qui composent aujourd’hui le réseau ferroviaire du Vermont. Bien qu’il ait été publié en 2006 et ne prenne pas en compte les développements plus récents (il manque maintenant 25 ans d’informations), ce qui m’a le plus impressionné, c’est le grand nombre de photographies en couleur des lignes WACR/POMPY NORTH/NEWPORT SUB. Ce livre comporte plusieurs chapitres consacrés à la ligne que nous suivons actuellement sur Facebook.
J’espère que vous apprécierez ce livre autant que moi – et autant que je l’apprécierai chaque fois que je le consulterai pour la construction de mon petit réseau ferroviaire miniature à l’échelle HO, la Newport Sub (1995-2002).
